Baptism

Baptism is a Christian rite of admission, almost invariably with the use of water, into the Christian Church.

To book a date for your child's (up to 7 years of age) baptism, contact the parish office (0208 520 3647). It is a Diocesan requirement that you are registered in this parish for at least six months prior to booking.

Requirements:

1. Baptisms take place on the second Saturday of the month at 11:30am.

2. Parents/guardians who are parishioners must be practicing Catholics (please register your family with us).

3. Parents/guardians from other parishes must obtain a letter of recommendation from their parish priest.

4. Godparents must be practicing Catholics.

5. Pre-Baptism Meeting: Held at regular intervals (dates announced in the Weekend Bulletin). This is compulsory for adults only.

6. There is no charge, but a donation to the priest is customary.

7. The date is NOT confirmed until the application form is returned and approved by the Priest.

First Holy Communion

First Holy Communion 2026 Our programme starts in January and ends in May 2026. It is open for children currently in Year 4 or above (no older than Year 9). Forms available from 15th December 2025.

• Requirement: Copy of baptismal certificate must be attached to the application.

• Teachers: We are looking for parents or retired teachers happy to teach (resources provided).

Confirmation

Confirmation is a rite of initiation carried out through anointing and/or the laying on of hands and prayer for the purpose of bestowing the Gift of the Holy Spirit. In the Roman Catholic Church, it "renders the bond with the Church more perfect".


Marriage

Preparation First step: Book an appointment to see Fr Freddy. A minimum of six months is required ahead of your wedding date.

Documents Required:

1. A latest copy of baptismal certificate (issued within six months of the marriage).

2. Letter of freedom to marry.

3. If one party is not Catholic, a dispensation is needed (the priest will organize this).

4. Pre-marriage course details and ceremony specifics will be discussed with the priest.

RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is for adults attracted by Christ and his teaching. Candidates explore the Catholic faith and prepare to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, usually at the Easter Vigil.

Registration: Now taking place for any adult who has not been baptised or was baptised in a different denomination. Catholics wishing to learn more are also welcome. Please call the Parish Office.
